About Us

Our costumes are made here in the USA by Black Sea Trading Company. Our business was founded in 1987 to satisfy a growing request for costumes and accessories that were reasonable, high quality, and well fitting. Unless outfitting a troupe to your exact specifications, no two costumes are ever the same!

Krisha Kazimira has been a bellydancer, teacher, and costumer for over 35 years. Her experience in how costumes move, fit, and flow combined with her original designs has made her one of the most sought after designers in the USA. Let her change your look from ordinary to extraordinary. Her handcrafted designs have an inspiring beauty that captures the look you want including classical caberet, tribal/folkloric, ATS, Rom, and modern fusion - from clean and classic to whimsical and daring.

Since Black Sea Trading Company was formed to do the things we love, we continue to carry some very beautiful items from Russia and the Black Sea region - land of our family origins - hence the name we chose when we first established our business over 20 years ago.  Our old world commitment to honesty and fine quality comes through in all of our products!

From Krisha

My long term love affair with belly dance probably began at age 6 watching those Buzby-Berkely Hollywood Black & Whites on the family TV. I took the usual kid's tap and jazz classes but the teachers didn't quite like the fact that I'd drape myself in kerchief's trying to emulate those tv divas. At 16, I ran off and took my first belly dance class, was addicted to the dance by 17 and teaching by 18. And, 35 years later... I am still just as facinated as I was when I was 6 - the learning never stops! I fondly remember all my favorite teachers and sisters in dance as well as all my adopted dance children, grand-children and great-grandchildren - so very proud of you all!

The dance gives so much and asks so little. Be kind to it and each other.

I come from a long line of costumers as well as having studied and received certification from some prestigous fashion design schools. The most influential and inspirational person in my life remains my "crafty" mother who never used anything for it's intended purpose. Her bellydance costumes sat in the Smithsonian Institute representing the epitome of Egyptian classical caberet. My sister Aliya, a dancer, teacher and costumer, has worked with Bob Mackie. For me, my costumes have graced the butts of dancers around the globe from Japan to Egypt.

Growing up with beads and sequins imbedded in the carpets is just, well, natural. Guess I was Born with Bling!

It is with great sadness I inform you of the passing this last year of both my sister and my mother. In rememberance of them, I continue to devote myself to their great examples and with great fondness pass along the teachings to my belly-family. I can only imagine the great hafla going on in the heavens... Angels with bling???
